The Squire’s Spotlight Shines on Mr. Hironimus

By: Hayden Hendricks

This year Youngsville and Sheffield both shut down, sending students to one of the two remaining schools, Warren or Eisenhower. With this, they also sent some of the staff over to the other schools to account for the influx in students. This gave Eisenhower many new faces; you may have already seen some new teachers or maybe they teach one of your classes. One of the new teachers from Youngsville is Mr. Hironimus. Mr. Hironimus teaches math, anywhere from algebra to calculus and statistics.

Mr. Hironimus came from Youngsville and when The Squire asked him how his time has been so far. He stated, “My time at Eisenhower has been great.”  He also added, “Everyone has been welcoming and supportive.” The Squire also asked what his favorite thing about Eisenhower was. He said, “My favorite thing about Eisenhower is the students and staff.” Eisenhower is not a big school compared to other schools; everyone knows almost everyone. So, the students and staff are closer to one another since there aren’t a lot of kids or other staff.

The Squire asked what the most rewarding part of being a teacher is. Hironimus replied, “The most rewarding part of being a teacher is interacting with the students and helping them find success.” This is a great mindset that every teacher should have, helping people who want to learn and find success.

The Squire questioned what changes he has observed in students and teaching methods since he started. He answered, “The biggest change I have noticed since I started is the amount of technology that is available to both teachers and students.” Technology has evolved so much that it is now available to everyone through the computers provided by the district. Compared to when there were only a few laptops or none, and they had to use a whiteboard or chalkboard.

The Squire asked what advice he would give to struggling students, for his first piece of advice, Hironimus shared, “Take detailed classroom notes. Feel free to stop the class discussion and ask questions.” For his second piece he states, “Do a thorough review after class and finish all homework before the next class.” Now his final piece of advice, “Seek help immediately when you don’t understand the concepts discussed in class.”

So, we can infer that Mr. Hironimus has had a good time so far and is an amazing teacher. Be sure to stop by and introduce yourself if you haven’t yet. The Squire would like to thank Mr. Hironimus for taking the time to let us get to know him.
