Spring into Appreciation

Spring is in full swing, and with that comes many different events around the Eisenhower campus. Many know and love spirit weeks, but this one has a special meaning, being Teacher Appreciation Week, which is May 4-May 8. It helps us let our teachers know how much we appreciate everything they do for us and our school.

Though it is a fun filled week for the teachers, there is also a lot of planning that goes into this week. Student Council has to work together to come up with the ideas and activities that come with Teacher Appreciation Week. When asked about preparing for the week, Student Council Secretary, Clara Steinberg said that they also organize gifts and decorations around the school to create an appreciative atmosphere.

Students may wonder what they should be expecting for this years Teacher Appreciation Week, so The Squire, asked Steinberg what the student body should expect, she elaborated with, “Students can expect a week focused on celebrating and recognizing teachers. There will be small activities and gestures throughout the week meant to uplift teachers and show appreciation for everything they do.”

This week’s main goal is to make our teachers feel appreciated for everything they do for students and the school. When, The Squire, asked Steinberg about the main goal for Teacher Appreciation Week, she remarked, “The main goal is to make teachers feel valued and appreciated for their hard work, dedication, and the support they give students every day.”

Teacher Appreciation Week also comes with some special events for our teachers. Student Council will be holding a car wash for teachers along with other activities throughout the week to express appreciation for them.

Not only are teachers affected by the activities and events happening, but it also affects the student body. It encourages students to make positive changes in their behavior to help show the appreciation all the teachers deserve. When asked about what behaviors Teacher Appreciation Week encourages, Clara shared, “Teacher Appreciation Week encourages students to be respectful, helpful, and positive. It’s a time to go out of your way to thank teachers and show appreciation for everything they do, especially for the staff at Eisenhower.”

Though the student body should always show their appreciation for everything the staff does for them, this week emphasizes what students can do to help brighten a staff member’s day. Some ways Clara noted that students could help participate in this week are to thank their teachers, write notes, be kind, and show appreciation through their actions during the week.

As the student body, let’s make this Teacher Appreciation Week one to remember for all the staff members and teachers because they go out of their way to help and support the student body. Take action by creating a positive and respectful environment for everyone around and participate in spirit week that shows the teacher’s at Eisenhower how much everyone appreciates them.
