As a new season starts, Eisenhower welcomes a whole new season of sports for the girls. At this point in the spring season, Districts and hopefully States is in the cards for Track and Field, and the goal of making the playoffs for Softball.
Girl’s Track has had an amazing start to the season with many District qualifiers early on. With their 4×400 relay team, consisting of Rosalie Rondeau, Riley Robinault, Lainey Font, and Laney Belcher, qualifying for Districts, along with Rosalie Rondeau qualifying in her other events, Triple Jump and Long Jump, and Riley Robinault for High Jump at the Lancer Relays April 2nd.
Later on, at the Titusville Meet on April 9, the 4×100 relay team, consisting of Rondeau, Grace Martin, Tymber Barr, and Robinault, also qualified for districts, along with Laney Belcher individually in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash that same meet. She also later qualified for the 800-meter run, April 11, at the Fort LeBoeuf Invite.
In addition to that, The Squire, later asked Lainey Font on what she thinks about what the outcome could be of this season, and she shared, “I think this year we will have a ton of people go to Districts, and probably some medal at Districts, and if we continue to compete well, I think some of my teammates could qualify for States as well”, reflecting on how well the team has been doing so far.
For the Girl’s Softball Team, they have a losing record but have gained 2 wins against Warren and Iroquois so far into the season. With the unpredictable weather, many of their games have been either cancelled or rescheduled, but so far, Senior Night is planned to be played, April 29, and that will be against Kane. When co-captain, Sam Childs, was asked by The Squire on how she was feeling about the season so far, she said, “I think we were rough at first, but we are finding improvements and learning from our mistakes”.
The Squire thanks seniors Lainey Font and Sam Childs for their time and wishes everyone a great season!
