Boys spring sports shoot into action

By: Wyatt Neall

With the conclusion of boys’ winter sports, spring sports are starting up and getting into mid-season form. The baseball and track team will be entering a stretch of their season where they will have competitions and games every week until the playoffs. Many of our boys’ sports teams have already had competitions, with the baseball team having already played seven games. The Boys track team has had two meets with one being against Oil City high school which they lost, and Titusville high school which they won.

The Boys’ track team is off to a very hot start this year with a 1-1 record. This start is great for the track team, with it being the first team with the mix of Eisenhower and Youngsville. This shows good comradery between the two schools and how they are able to pull together as one and win. Some goals that the team has are to send at least one person to states, as well as send most of the team to districts. Junior Easton Fitzgerald gave us his insight on the chemistry of the team, he said, “The team is great were always having fun at practice and at meets and in between the races, track is always such a great time with this team.”

The baseball team is off to a rough start going 0-7 through their first games of the season. With the new coaching this year, the boys are hoping to turn it up in the last few weeks of the season to come out with a winning record and strong end to the season. The new coaching is really helping with the team morals and really helping to teach the new players the basics to help build a foundational base that can be expanded upon in the upcoming years. Baseball is scheduled to play almost all of their conference games in a short stretch of a few weeks, having almost two or three games every week in the upcoming future. They’ve been close to winning many games, coming close in four, only losing by less than 4 runs in all those games.  The team is also hoping to place in the top two of their conferences to be able to make playoffs and eventually, make a deep postseason run.

The Squire thanks Fitzgerald for his input and time. Make sure to wish all the boys’ spring sports teams’ good luck for the rest of the season and stay updated with future games and cancellations posted on eisenhowermhs.bigteams.com
