As the cold of winter weather blows in, so do winter sports. For the girls winter sports, Eisenhower offers basketball and cheer. Basketball games can be very intense and a great sport to watch. Just as much, cheerleading, with all the stunts and cheers, can help to make a game very rowdy. Each sport has been practicing for about a month now preparing for a great season. The Squire sat down with junior basketball player, Kaitlin Sleeman, and freshman cheerleader, Cali Chapman, to learn what is going on in their current seasons.
With snow blowing in, ski season has started for many students attending Eisenhower. Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, New York, officially opened on December 3, debuting their new high-speed lift. Employees at Holiday Valley have been working hard to install this lift at their hill, Yodeler.
The holiday season is arriving quickly, and Eisenhower’s annual Food Drive is here. The food drive occurs every year from December 1–15. The Squire interviewed National Honor Society President, Bailey Lundmark, for an inside view at the collection. Bailey officially went into office for the National Honor Society this September, after being elected by his fellow honor society peers. He has played a major role in this year’s food drive, along with the club as a whole. The club, however, has not been working alone. Lundmark states, “We also had help from the Key Club, especially the President Taylor Napolitan, and the Student Council members.”
