Eisenhower Challenges the Spring Sport Season

By: Kyler Black

Eisenhower’s spring sports teams, boys baseball, girls softball, and track and field have all started the season. The sports teams are in their seasons now and have achieved some impressive feats early into the season. For the final sports season of this school year, the teams look to have success on the mounds and tracks.

When the bats started to swing this season, all of Eisenhower’s fan base had very high expectations with the return of many key players. The Squire interviewed junior, Shawn Pascuzzi about the season so far about how it has been going and he responded with, “The key to success for us is consistency.”  Shawn shared he still has this year and the next, so he expects to have two successful seasons. On April 21, the baseball team had a very big win against Cochranton, a talented team for playoff potential. This game rolls Eisenhower into a very game-heavy schedule, including a rematch with Cochranton because of the weather cancelations. While the season continues, the boys have been very focused during practice on getting more wins in the scorebook to give that boost into any momentum as playoffs are rapidly approaching.

Adding onto the mound atmosphere, the girls softball team is starting to get ahold of things. At the time of this article publication, the softball team has had two wins so far against Youngsville and Rocky Grove and looks to improve their record for the season. The Squire sat down and talked with junior pitcher, Emilie Jones, who shared, “The key to success during the season has been everyone keeping a positive attitude.” Jones also noted the struggles of the season so far, but also commented that the team has been making progress during practices. In Jones’ words, “Practices have been consisting of a lot of batting practice, working on many of the girls pitching, and working on fielding.” The rest of the season for the softball team is going to be tough. The girls wish for support on the field and hope to increase their wins.

Eisenhower’s track and field team have also been working hard for the season. For the boys and girls track and field teams, they are constantly in the weight room and on track to be getting better during the season. The Squire interviewed sophomore, Ryan Chambers, who does events 100, 200, 4×1, and the long jump. The Squire asked what his personal goals are, and he responded, “I plan to qualify for districts in every event I do and just get better every single practice.” Ryan has high hopes for his season. The track and field team has an upcoming track meet with county rival, Sheffield, that looks to be a battle for both sides.

The Eisenhower spring sport season is in full swing, and all three teams have been putting in a lot of work and look forward to the support of all the blue and gold members. Come out and cheer on the spring sport teams.
