Dining in at New Beginnings

By: Bridgette Gourley

Is your family stuck at home this fall because of the cold weather? If you ever get bored and want to get out of the house, a perfect idea is to go eat at New Beginnings. This restaurant has been around for several years and is very popular in the town of Sugar Grove.

To learn more about the restaurant, The Squire interviewed Eisenhower student, Rachael Richards, who is a current employee at New Beginnings. Rachael shared that her favorite things about working at the restaurant are, “The people are nice, and you enjoy every moment being there.” While the restaurant is often buzzing with people, it seems to get the most busy on the weekends. As Rachael explains, “The weekends get super busy because more people are getting out of school and work.”

I had dinner at New Beginnings on Wednesday, September 30th with my dad. The food was delicious! We looked at the different food choices and there was a lot to pick from. I ordered Biscuits and Gravy, and my dad ordered an Omelet. The prices were very good for the amount of food we got!

Not only is New Beginnings a great place to go if you want to get out of the house and spend a little family time together, it is also a great place to look for a job. Rachael is currently working as a waitress and at the counter. She enjoys every bit of time she is there because everyone that works there are good friends. If you don’t know what the environment is like around Sugar Grove, Rachael explains, “It’s a small, peaceful town with few people. Plus, everyone around town knows each other.” All those factors make it a fun place to work.

Covid has affected a lot of towns and business this past year. Like many restaurants, there are some special guidelines they follow due to the Covid pandemic. In September 2020, the government finally allowed restaurants to have up to 50% capacity, but ALL customers, and workers must always be wearing a mask. As Rachael explains, “Because of Covid most restaurants could only allow up to 25% in the restaurants, but now they moved it up to 50%. This allows two people to work in the kitchen at New Beginnings.”

That’s all for this restaurant review. If your family wants to get out of the house this winter or fall, New Beginnings is always wanting people to come in. Weekends get busier than usual weekdays, so if you’re not looking for a rush, Monday-Thursday would be the perfect time to come and dine in for a delicious meal.
