When The Squire reached out to Penley, he didn’t hesitate to share his experiences and views on high school thus far. According to pbis.org, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an approach that schools use to promote school safety and good behavior. With PBIS, schools teach kids about behavior expectations and strategies. The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment. Many kids struggle with behavior in school. While this may sound complicated, it is a proactive approach to establishing behavioral supports and social culture and a clear framework that can easily help transform student behavior and culture within school or classroom. In school, it helps students and staff learn life skills to overcome challenges and gain success.

Students at Eisenhower have been supporting school sporting events a lot lately, and a big reason is because of The Pig Pen, which is the Eisenhower High School student section at sporting events. The Pig Pen participates in all sports, but seems to have boys basketball, football, and volleyball as their favorites to attend. The section has themes to dress up as for every game as students scream chants and yell as loud as they can. Head boys basketball coach, Ryan Mangini, has expressed how much he loves The Pig Pen at the games this season.
