Since March 13, 2020, all Pennsylvania schools have been closed due to the coronavirus. Governor Tom Wolf made this decision just minutes before the final bell of the school day rang on that Friday. Students woke up that morning thinking that it was just a normal day at school, but, little did they know, their high school experience was going to be changed. As a junior, many opportunities are being taken away from me due to school being closed and the state being on lockdown. On March 13, for everyone in PA, Governor Wolfe canceled school. It was originally put on pause for two weeks, and then another added two weeks, until eventually, school was closed for the rest of the year. I, like many of my classmates, have been stuck in quarantine for the past two months. While they may be living with their parents and a sibling or two, I have been living with six other people: my mom, my dad, my brother, my grandpa, my grandma, and my nephew. Inspiration can be extremely hard to come by while in quarantine. Locked inside your own house with the same walls and the same people, “artists block” is inevitable, but you don’t even need to be an artist to experience this. Maybe you’re trying to write a paper, or want to do an easy craft with your family. The surplus of free-time all of us have been given presents a conundrum: so much time to create, nothing to inspire us. I’ve especially been afflicted by this; I love to draw and I’ve been finishing up my portfolio for AP Art this year, but some major blocks have stood in my way.
