With the new school year starting up, there are many new students and new teachers. This year, Eisenhower would like to welcome Mr. Turbide. The EMHS staff and students are more than thrilled to have him here this year and can’t wait to see what he has to offer.
The Squire has asked Mr. Turbide a few questions so the students and staff can get to know him better.
The Squire: What is your favorite hobby to do and why?
Mr. Turbide: My favorite hobby is to hike. Being in nature and in the natural environment is a very good way to relax and get a good workout. I have always felt a connection to wilderness, and I hope to one day hike the Appalachian Trail.
TS: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Mr. T: If I had to pick a superpower, I would pick having a Green Lantern Ring. The powers of building constructs with my mind would be very useful and a great trick, as well as having a cool outfit.
TS: What is one book you would recommend to someone, and why?
Mr. T: If I had to recommend a book to someone, it would be The Race to Save the Romanovs by Helen Rappaport. I am a huge fan of new history books that unveil the mysteries of the past and what really happened. In this book, much of the confusion and mystery of what happened to the Romanov family is told for the very first time.
TS: What have you liked about Eisenhower during the time you have been here?
Mr. T: I have enjoyed coming back to the school that gave so much to me when I was in high school. Being a part of the community, watching the sports games, and being back, except this time in the classroom, has been a great experience so far.
TS: What are some of your goals for your students this year?
Mr. T: The goal for my students is skill acquisition. It is easy to remember details to a degree, to apply that knowledge and to comprehend it is the challenging part.
TS: What is your favorite sport to watch? Why?
Mr. T: My favorite sport is by far hockey, although football is cool. I come from a long line of French Canadians who all watch hockey and root for the Montreal Canadiens. The greatest sports team of all time, in my opinion. Twenty-four championships, most hall of fame players of all time, and a cultural powerhouse in the province of Quebec.
The Squire would like to thank Mr. Turbide for answering the questions so we all can get to know him better. As always, feel free to stop in and welcome Mr. Turbide to Eisenhower!
