Boys Fall Sports Kicking Into Action

By: Aiden Snyder

Now that we’re a few weeks into the school year, the Eisenhower boys are deep into the fall 2026 Season. Like every year, the teams have to change things up due to losing last year’s Seniors. This year, they are looking to make up for it with the new freshman talent.

The football team is currently having some issues adapting, and at the moment they have a losing record, but are looking to bounce back within the next few weeks. They lost a lot of crucial seniors last year and are trying to compete the same way, but they know it takes time for freshmen to adapt to the jump to varsity given the pressure and expectations that come with the varsity level. The Squire interviewed senior quarterback Joseph Gigliotti, who told us he sees a lot of upsides in having a younger team and thinks that’ll start to show in their record. The Squire also asked Gigliotti what some bigger games to look out for are and he responded with, “All of them are big games, due to pursuing playoffs, but one I’m looking forward to is Warren, as they are a county rival and we know each other pretty well.”

Though the golf team is only ranked four out of the six teams in their region, they are shining bright as this is more of an individual sport than anything, with members ranking higher individually than the team ranked. With districts right around the corner, the team is proud of what they’ve accomplished and how hard they’ve worked. The Squire was able to interview senior Michael Palmieri about how he’s personally done this season and some things he’s tried to improve upon. Palmieri shared, “This season is much more successful than last year because I qualified for districts and my scoring average was three strokes lower. The main thing I’ve improved this year is my putting.”

With a competitive season so far, the boys’ soccer team is looking to strike ahead of the competition. The Squire spoke to senior and captain Rever Caudill, who says the team is confident in the season going forward as this year the team is working more together than they are apart, especially compared to last year. The Squire also spoke to teacher and coach Mr. Taylor, and he believes with more people attending summer practices this should improve the overall skill level and chemistry of the team.

The cross-country team currently has a positive record and is confident in going to districts and regionals as a team this season. They started off their season with a bang as they won by seven points against Corry (Eisenhower 27, and Corry 32). The Squire interviewed Parker McBride and asked how this season compared to the last. He shared that so far this season they are, “A lot smoother as a team overall. We have a much more structured team then last year, overall, just a lot smoother.” Additionally, this year they have a great prospect in Josie Elms who’s been dominating the competition!

Be sure to tune into any home games and join in on the fun. Check the Pig Pen Instagram for student section themes to support our Knights! The Squire thanks Gigliotti, Palmieri, Caudill, Mr. Taylor, and McBride for their insight.
