Youngsville Navigates Consolidating with Eisenhower

By: Nicholas Stanley

As you know Youngsville Middle Highschool transferred their students to Eisenhower Middle Highschool due to Youngsville shutting down. Because this happened, The Squire wanted to ask a student from Youngsville and a student from Eisenhower a few questions about Youngsville coming to Eisenhower to get an understanding of the students’ view of the consolidation over the first year.

The Squire asked former Youngsville student, Layla Mohney, what is the best part about switching to Eisenhower, and why? She responded with, “The best part is that the toilets are normally not broken, so all the stalls are available.” The Squire followed by asking her opinion on the students at Eisenhower, where she explained, “They are all just average teens like what we had at Youngsville.” Because of class sizes doubling, Mohney explained that it is a lot more crowded than Youngsville was, but that is to be expected with twice as many students in one building.

The Squire asked Eisenhower student Ryan Huck, a couple of questions about the consolidation, and he shared his experience. Huck explained that he has had a positive experience with the students at Eisenhower and went on to say that everyone has been very kind, and the switch itself has been nice and a positive experience for him. On the downside of things, Huck noted, “…it is much harder to navigate the hallways now.” The Squire went on to ask what he expected with the consolidation, and he shared his expectations were, “…For there to be a lot more students and make it a lot harder to learn.”

The Squire would like to thank Layla and Ryan for taking the time to carefully consider and respond to these questions regarding the consolidation between Youngsville and Eisenhower. To conclude, the switch from Youngsville to Eisenhower has had its upsides and its downsides but overall has been a positive experience for the students. The Squire would also like to thank the staff for having helped by making it a positive learning experience and being welcoming and kind to all students from both Youngsville and Eisenhower.
