With Valentine’s Day approaching quickly, there is love in the air and chocolate shaped hearts being sold everywhere. During this time of year, it can be stressful to find the perfect gift for that special someone that you may have in your life. Whether it is a gift for your girlfriend or boyfriend, The Squire is here to give you some great gift ideas!
Valentine’s Day has been around for many years and gets more popular each year. Almost all the stores that you might walk into around this time are selling red and pink everything, including boxes of chocolate, bouquets of roses, stuffed animals and much more! With all of this on the shelves, you might be feeling a little stressed out and overwhelmed about what to buy for your significant other, but that is where The Squire comes in to help.
The Squire interviewed Jared Beers, an Eisenhower senior, about Valentine’s Day gifts, first asking him what he would like to receive, as a guy, for a gift. He responded, “I would be happy to receive pretty much anything because I know my girlfriend took the time to pick out something that I would like.” Some gifts that you could get your boyfriend could include, clothing, something related to a sport or interest he enjoys, candy, a handmade gift, or even a basket of all his favorite things. Beers also shared his thoughts on what he plans to get his girlfriend for the special holiday. “I think that food would be a great idea to get her because it always makes her happy and there are so many different options to buy.” Other ideas can include, flowers, candy, a stuffed animal, something handmade or spending the day together.
If you cannot get to a store this holiday to buy a gift, Beers recommended, “You could always make homemade food as a gift because even if it is not a fancy gift, you still took the time to do something special for them.” If you are not the type of person to buy a gift for your significant other and you like to make homemade gifts, here are some ideas for you from different sources on Google: Open when letters, a scrapbook, heart shaped bath bombs, a memory jar, or a pop-up photo box. Beers also shared with us his preferences on whether he would prefer a homemade gift or a store-bought gift, “It doesn’t matter to me what type of gift because, again, I know she took the time to pick out or make something I would like.” Some couples prefer not to do gifts on Valentine’s Day while others do, Beers’ thoughts were, “It really depends on what you and your significant other think about the holiday and what fits you the best.”
Whether you have been with your significant other for a shorter or a longer period, it can still be hard to find a gift for them. The Squire asked Beers how to know what to get your significant other, and Beers replied, “You just have to know them as a person and what they like, and it will come to you.”
Hopefully, this gave you some ideas on what to buy your significant or maybe it inspired you to make them a homemade gift. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you express your love this Valentine’s Day! The Squire hopes you have a happy, healthy, and loving Valentine’s Day this year.
