School time during the holiday season can be stressful, especially for teachers. A great way to give back to them for all their hard work is getting them a gift for Christmas. Shopping for teachers can be a challenge, because often times your teacher may not tell you what they want, or maybe they feel it is not appropriate or necessary to buy them gifts.
An alternative to the personal gifts you may get for your friends or family would be classroom related gifts. Classroom supplies, such as pencils, pens, dry erase markers, tissues, and hand sanitizer, are always in high demand.
Creative DIY gifts that you make yourself will also make your teachers happy. Thoughtful gifts that stem from the students’ hearts will show teachers that you appreciate everything they do. Some teachers appreciate more practical type gifts that they need to use. In an interview with Mrs. Joncas, high school math teacher at Eisenhower, she relayed, “I prefer classroom-centered gifts over personal ones because my classroom is always in need of more supplies.” She feels that, especially with the winter season, it is always better to be safe and have extra tissues and sanitizer lying around. Many teachers are generous, like Mrs. Joncas, and put the well-being of their students first.
The website, Accreditedschoolsonline.org, gave some very insightful ideas on great ways to find Christmas gifts for your teachers this year. If you are looking for a more personalized gift, a book would be a great idea. Also, learning what your teacher’s favorite candy is or what they like to do in their free time may help you find a great gift. For example, if your teacher likes to go out to eat every Wednesday with her family, you could get her a gift card to her favorite restaurant. If you are looking for something simpler, a care package packed with goodies, or personalized pencils would be fun and cute!
Teachers love handmade items. Anything from DIY care packages to specialized gifts would go a long way. If you are looking for a classroom-centered gift, another great option would be to just ask your teachers! While some teachers may seem intimidating, they just want the best for you. They would definitely appreciate a Christmas gift that comes from the heart. While you are looking for a Christmas gift for your teacher, remember these helpful tips The Squire has provided you.
