While Christmas time can be frustrating, it is always nice to kick back and relax with some good Christmas tunes. While it is hard to identify a favorite or best Christmas music album, one classic album that has stood the test of time, and is a great holiday album to listen to is Bing Crosby’s, Merry Christmas. This album features ten Christmas songs, ranging from upbeat bops, to soulful ballads. For this music review, The Squire will be analyzing and interpreting this work of art to better understand what this Christmas album is all about.
Clearly, after listening to this album, I believe it is a wonderful album to get you in the Christmas spirit this holiday season. While these songs were produced in the mid 1900’s, Crosby’s voice has transcended through the times, allowing it to live on. “White Christmas” brings an interesting twist to music with his enunciation of his words as he is singing. The way he pronounces his words gives the song an old-fashioned Christmas vibe. In the song, “White Christmas,” he sings “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know.” This line gives a spirited and homey feeling to the song. It is considered a compilation album, meaning they have carefully put these songs together to make a joyous album. Other great classic artists, such as John Scott Trotter and the Andrew sisters, are featured in these songs. This classical work of art gives a traditionally spirited festive musical experience to anyone who enjoys the album. “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town” is another wonderful classic Christmas song that brings a cheery vibe and gets listeners in the Christmas spirit. Therefore, these jolly tunes are fun to listen to for Christmas time.
To dig into some fellow high school student’s minds to get a different perspective, I have pulled curly, thick haired, shorty, Zoey Reynolds, aside to answer some questions. The Squire asked Zoey how she feels about this album and she enthusiastically shared, “I really like it! It is a great album to listen to in order to get into the Christmas spirit.” She described her favorite song on the album, saying, “I enjoy ‘Jingle Bells’ very much, because it is a classic that always puts me in a joyous mood.”
Having reviewed this Christmas album, I highly recommend listening to it this holiday season. If you are interested in listening to this album, The Squire encourages you to stream it on Spotify or Apple Music! Have fun and sing merrily! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
