Every year as the holiday season approaches everyone thinks about the decorations. Whether it’s a Christmas tree, lights, or a wreath, seasonal decor helps everyone get into the Christmas Spirit. It is a pillar to Christmas spirit, so taking part in decorating is tradition to many.
Many people like to get in the holiday spirit by driving around and seeing other people’s decorations. Outdoor decorations can be difficult to pick out, especially when trying to find something suitable for unpredictable winter weather. The Squire looked for the top five best options to make your house stand out this Christmas season.
The Squire asked Brigit Cook who decorates her house, what decorations she liked most and she commented, “I like when I see a lot of inflatables and lights.”
- Lights
Overall putting up lights is one of the simplest yet best looking decorations you can have for the holidays. Lights stand out against the all-white snowy background and look even better at night. Installation can be as simple as you want it to be. You can purchase net lights that can go over bushes or shrubs. Hanging lights on your house pulls the look together and, if you are unable to do so yourself, you can always hire someone to help. Whether you use colored lights to create a magical Christmas or white lights to make a sophisticated look, Christmas lights may be just what you need to decorate your house.
- Garland
Garland carries a natural element and, when combined with lights, it can make your house look ready for Christmas. Hanging garland can also be simple, and real or fake greenery can be used. To elevate your garland, adding lights helps them pop in the dark. You can also add other accessories like ornaments or ribbon that help coordinate the garland with other decorations.
- Inflatables
Inflatables are one of the most popular decorations for the holidays because of how easy they are to set up. All you have to do is stake them into the ground and plug them in and you have the perfect holiday decoration. Whether it’s a basic snowman or a holiday character like the Grinch, any inflatable can be a good decoration for the holiday. The weather around here can make it difficult to use inflatables so make sure to follow all instructions and take them down if in doubt.
- Wreaths
Another classic decoration for the holiday season is a wreath. Wreaths look good on doors and windows, showing a coordinated Christmas spirit. Wreaths are one way to express yourself; you can decorate them with any theme you choose. Whether you want a white winter wonder land or a bright colorful Christmas, a wreath is the perfect item. They are very easy to hang and can be used from year to year, even if your theme changes.
- Outdoor Trees
Lastly, having an outdoor tree is one great way to show off your holiday spirit. Whether you decorate a real tree with lights and ornaments or buy a light up tree, this can be the perfect decoration. If there was one thing that symbolizes Christmas, it is the Christmas Tree, so putting one up for everyone to see is a great way to bring holiday joy to yourself and those around you.
Cook was also asked what makes a house’s Christmas decorations visually appealing, and she said, “I like to be able to see your house from a mile away if I’m driving by in the dark.”
Overall, decorating for the holiday season is one of the best parts of Christmas, so choose what works best for you and light up your holiday season. The Squire wishes you Happy Holidays.
