Eisenhower Dominates Homecoming Game

On Friday, October 10, the Eisenhower Knights (5-2) faced off against the Franklin Knights (0-7) for the Homecoming Football game. The Knights went into the game coming off a loss against Seneca the previous week.

Franklin started off hot and scored the first points of the game, going up 7-0. After this, Franklin fell apart and Eisenhower never looked back. The Knights won 42-13 and were propelled by amazing games from senior quarterback, Caleb Jakubczak and senior running back, Logan Penley. Jakubczak had four total touchdowns, two on the ground, one through the air, and one on defense. He had 160 rushing yards on 12 carries while also passing for 55 yards with a 40% completion rate. Penley also dominated in the rushing game, scoring two more touchdowns and rushing for 94 yards. Overall, the Knights defense also played a great game, allowing Franklin only 13 points and 23 passing yards. Jakubczak was also the leader of the defense, with two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

The Squire interviewed Jakubczak, a senior captain, about the team’s preparation for the game, he commented, “We practiced hard and played like it’s a championship game.” He also shared some strengths and weaknesses of the team after the game and said the strongest part of the team has been their coaching and they need to work on being able to finish games strong.

At halftime of the game, the 2025 Homecoming King and Queen were announced. Clara Steinberg won Homecoming Queen and Xavier Nichols was crowned Homecoming King.

The Knights look to finish the regular season strong in their final remaining game on Friday, October 24, at home starting at seven. This game will be senior night for the football players, cheerleaders, and band. Jakubczak commented on his motivation for the end of his senior season saying he would, “Give all I’ve got to the game.”
