The best thing to wake up to on a winter morning is a message saying school is cancelled because of the weather conditions. It’s just a wonderful feeling knowing you can sleep in and do not have to go to school.
Snow days are a great time to catch up on sleep, since on a normal day, we’d have to wake up early to go to school. Snow days are also a great time to do your homework. It is always a great idea to bring your homework home with you during the winter months so that you have it in case of a snow day. Snow days are also great for the teachers. They get to stay home with their families and catch up on any work or grading they need to.
The Squire asked Senior, Josh Bortz, what he likes to do on snow days. He shared, “I usually enjoy staying home drinking hot chocolate and watching movies.” For students and teachers alike, snow days are also just a great time to relax and relieve some stress.
Snow days are a great time for you to hang out with your friends. You could stay in and play video games or watch movies. Another option is you could go outside and play in the snow and spend some quality time with your friends. The Squire also asked Mr. Bortz if he enjoys hanging with his friends on snow days. He explained, “I love hanging with my friends on snow days. We usually whip our cars around Warren County or stay in and watch movies.”
If you would prefer to go out and enjoy the snow instead of staying inside all day, The Squire is here with some great ideas for you. You could go sled riding with your buddies or maybe build a snowman. You can buy sleds at your local Walmart or Dollar General. You could also go sled riding at basically any steep hill. There are plenty of things you could do outside, Mr. Bortz does things a little different. When The Squire asked him what he enjoys doing when he goes outside, he shared, “I enjoy going out and working on my Subaru.”
If you find yourself with an unexpected day off in the form of a snow day this year, the options of fun activities to fill the day are endless. Most importantly, it is a chance for students and teachers to relax and get a break from an extremely stressful school day, making snow days one of the best parts of winter.
