From traditional carols like “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” to hymns, such as “Silent Night,” and pop sensations like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Christmas music makes up a huge part of our holiday season and culture here in America. Not only are these songs and carols pleasing to hear this time of year, but they also have plenty of history behind them and stories to go along. The Squire took the time to research about the history of Christmas music and had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Taylor, one of Eisenhower’s History and English Language Arts teachers, about some fun holiday music facts from his home country, England.
On November 3, 2023, Epic Games re-released a revamped version of Fortnite chapters one through ten. This year, on December 6, Epic Games similarly released new seasons with the original graphics, sound, locations, item spawns, and much more. Epic Games plans on releasing a new season every month. The game has reignited a spark in the old community by bringing back the sacred “Double Pump Shot,” which was a popular attack back in the original seasons. There are many more game mechanics such as the zap trap and bounce pads.
Since 2024 is wrapping up, The Squire decided to do a year in review to share the top songs, movies, trends and sports. The Squire conducted online research, along with in-person polls and social media surveys to find out more about what our students feel are some of the most popular trends of the year.
