The Light Shines Brightly on Mrs. Linkerhof

By: Bryce Coleson

The 2025-2026 school year came with some changes here at Eisenhower. With the closing of Youngsville, Eisenhower welcomed many new teachers and students. One of the new teachers we welcomed this year is Mrs. Linkerhof. Mrs. Linkerhof is a Physical education teacher and, along with this, she also teaches personal finance and computer classes. The Squire sat down with Mrs. Linkerhof to ask a couple questions so the EMHS community can get to know her better.

The Squire: What are some challenges in moving schools?
Mrs. Linkerhof: I’ve worked for the district for 19 years and have taught in every building, so for me it’s not really a challenge, it’s more of a change of pace. Last year was different emotionally with the closing of YHS. Some of the more time-consuming parts are packing and unpacking a classroom. Each building also runs a little differently, so getting used to new procedures can sometimes be a challenge.

T.S.: What are some difficulties of teaching multiple subjects?
M.L.: Planning is the hardest part. This year I teach seven different classes. It would be nice to teach the same class more than once a day, but it’s something I’m very used to at this point.

T.S.: What are some challenges of teaching online classes along with in-person classes?
M.L.: The hardest part is communication. When online students or parents’ email, I’m not always available to respond right away, which can be frustrating. I usually complete virtual work after school because my day is so full of in-person classes. Another challenge is explaining concepts through email—especially since students often don’t want to meet virtually.

T.S.: What is your favorite part about EMHS?
M.L.: The kids. I enjoy getting to know people. I also love sports, it’s been great seeing students come together and experience success in athletic events.

T.S.: What is something cool about you that most students don’t know?
M.L.: I’m a small business owner. I recently opened a used car dealership called Benchmark Auto. It’s still in the startup phase, but I’m really excited about getting it up and running.

T.S.: What is your favorite class you teach and why?
M.L.: That’s tough. I really enjoy learning new things, so teaching Accounting and Personal Finance has been exciting. I like Accounting, but Personal Finance is my favorite. It may sound odd, but the older I get, the more I enjoy learning—and I love the challenge that comes with it.

T.S.: What inspired you to become a teacher?
M.L.: As a kid, I wanted to do better for myself and create a better life for my future family. I surrounded myself with people who pushed me to be better, and that ultimately led me to want to become a teacher.

T.S.If you weren’t a teacher, what profession would you choose and why?
M.L.: Nursing. I think I would have really enjoyed it—and I probably would have made more money.

T.S.: What are some hobbies you have outside of school?
M.L.: My family and friends mean everything to me, so spending time with them is my favorite thing to do. I also enjoy working on my business and sometimes doing nothing at all.

The Squire would like to thank Mrs. Linkerhof for answering our questions so we could get to know her better. Feel free to go and say hi to Mrs. Linkerhof when you get the chance. Though she is new at EMHS, she has already grown to be a beloved member in our community.
