When it comes close to the holiday season, there are many people who have different opinions about some Christmas movies. The Squire has put together a ranked Christmas movie list highlighting the most popular seasonal movies.
To find out more about what the Eisenhower student body looks for in a holiday movie, The Squire sat down with Eisenhower High School student, Ben Lindberg and talked to him about his festive movie preferences.
The Squire asked Lindberg to rank his top Christmas movies. Lindberg replied, “I would have to say that my number five favorite Christmas movie would be A Christmas Story, followed by Christmas with The Kranks. Then I would have to say for number three and two would have to be Home Alone One and Two. Lastly, I would pick The Grinch to be my number one favorite Christmas movie this year.”
Christmas movies really get people in the holly jolly spirit for the holiday. Some people prefer funny movies such as ELF, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, or even Christmas Chronicles. On the other hand, others prefer older, more wholesome movies such as The Polar Express, A White Christmas, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
The debate on whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not really has been ongoing for years, leading The Squire to ask Lindberg what his thoughts were on the movie. He shared, “Yes, I think that it is a Christmas movie because it is based during Christmas and has Christmas props in the movie.”
Many people like different types of Christmas movies during the holidays. Some would say that they prefer the movie Krampus, which is more of a scary holiday movie over the more romantic side of holiday movies, such as the Hallmark movies. When The Squire asked Lindberg what his thoughts were on Hallmark movies, he said, “The movies are pretty good. Even though they all basically have the same plots, it wouldn’t be Christmas without them.”
After conducting some research, The Squire has put together a list of the ranked movies with the final ranked list being: 1. The Grinch, 2. ELF, 3. Home Alone, 4. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and 5. The Polar Express.
With the holiday around the corner, The Squire hopes that this ranked list has helped people with their Christmas movie lists this year. Whether re-watching a long time favorite or starting a new tradition with a new movie, these holiday favorites will help get any viewers in the holiday spirit.
