With the addition of many new teachers this year, Eisenhower has welcomed several fresh faces to its staff. This change comes after the recent merger with Youngsville High School. Among the new teachers is art teacher, Mrs. Hendricks, who has quickly become a valued member of our school community. Although she is new to Eisenhower, Mrs. Hendricks has been teaching in the district for several years and brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her classroom.
To help students and staff get to know her better, The Squire selected Mrs. Hendricks for this issue’s Teacher Spotlight. We asked her a few questions about her background, teaching journey, and impressions of Eisenhower so far.
Mrs. Hendricks shared the driving force behind her career, and she explained, “I love learning, and I always have loved art,” she said. “I love what I do. I try to inspire young people to find what they love and then the rest will just fall into place.” That passion for helping students discover their interests is what continues to motivate her every day.
Throughout her teaching career, Mrs. Hendricks has taught at all grade levels and finds joy in each day she spends in the classroom. “I love art. I love to teach art,” she said. “I have taught all grade levels. I enjoy what I do each day.” Her enthusiasm for the subject is clear, and she hopes that her students can see just how meaningful art can be.
When asked what she likes doing outside of the classroom, Mrs. Hendricks stated, “I enjoy spending time with my family,” she shared. “I also enjoy golfing a great deal. I enjoy being outdoors.”
Mrs. Hendricks hopes that students leave her class with greater appreciation for the value of creativity. “I hope students take away that art is something important,” she said. “Art may not be something one wants to do for a career, but to have an opportunity to take an art course is something special.”
That concludes our Teacher Spotlight on Mrs. Hendricks! The Squire would like to thank her for taking the time to share her passion for art and teaching. If you see her around the halls or in the art room, make sure to say hello and welcome her to Eisenhower!
