As we get closer to the spooky season, people start to watch more and more scary movies. There are many Halloween movies to choose from, with a wide variety available to help you get into the Halloween spirit. My personal favorite is Hubie Halloween, which I consider the greatest Halloween movie of all time. However, others may prefer spookier options, such as The Blair Witch Project and Halloween.
My number one Halloween movie of all time is Hubie Halloween, mainly because it is a great movie to watch for all ages. Kids and adults have a great laugh at this movie, and it has arguably one of the greatest comedians of all time, Adam Sandler, starring in it. If I had to rate Hubie Halloween on a scale, I would rate it five out of five stars because of the great acting and funny plot. Hubie Halloween is a movie about a man who doesn’t have many friends and lives in a town where everyone doesn’t like him, except one person. All of the events take place during Halloween, which make it the perfect family friendly film to enjoy. Keeping with the Halloween theme, the movie also includes a breakout at a maximum-security prison, and a prisoner, who turns out to be a werewolf, moves in next to Hubie.
A junior at Eisenhower, Isaiah Reagle, thinks the same, sharing, “Hubie Halloween is a funny Adam Sandler movie.” He said his favorite part of the movie is, “Every time he’s on his bike, he gets stuff thrown at him, which gradually gets worse each time.” This part also happens to be one of my favorite parts of the movie.
Reagle also said he would rate the movie five out of five stars, explaining, “It’s perfect in every way and has nothing wrong with it.” The Squire asked Reagle about the pros and cons of it being a feel-good movie instead of a scary movie, and he stated, “The pros of it being a feel-good Halloween movie is that it’s a funny movie to watch around October. The cons of it not being actually scary is that sometimes you want to be scared around that time of the year, but Hubie Halloween just isn’t the movie for that.” This is a valid point since some people like to be scared.
For those looking for a scarier movie, I would suggest watching The Blair Witch Project because of the true fear the actors had. It follows three college filmmakers who venture into the Black Hills Forest to investigate the local legend of the Blair Witch. Another great choice is Halloween, because it’s a classic and the perfect horror movie for the occasion. It follows the story of Michael Myers who killed his sister then was sent to an institution and 15 years later he broke out and returned to his hometown, and many try to stop him, but some end up dying in the end.
Overall, I recommend Hubie Halloween because it is many people’s favorite and it has a great plot and one of the greatest comedians of all time is cast in the star role, and his comedic relief makes it much better.
