Eisenhower is the home of many outstanding students, with senior Callan Gigliotti being one of many. Callan has several notable achievements, including Student Council President, Class of 2025 Vice President, captain of the soccer team, and NHS Vice President. She is also a participant in cheer, soccer, and the captain’s council. She does all this while keeping up her good grades and earning honor roll. She gives back to the Eisenhower community by being involved with clubs and sports.
The Squire found the time to interview Callan and learn a little bit more about her:
The Squire: What is the worst part about being a senior?
Callan Gigliotti: The worst thing about being a senior is how fast everything happens. The jump from junior to senior year is scary. One minute everyone is telling you that there is so much time left and you do not need to know what you are going to do, but as soon as you say “I am a senior,” it is expected of you to know what you ae going to do with your life. Not to mention, the college journey is a long and exhausting process.
TS: What is the best part about being a senior?
CG: The best part about being a senior, in my opinion, is making memories and soaking up every last moment because I know how much I will miss it. For example, sports have meant more to me this year than any other year because I know I won’t get the chance to be a part of these teams again.
TS: What extracurricular activities do you do?
CG: I have participated in soccer, cheer, and various clubs including Student Council, Honor Society, class officers, captains’ council, and a few others over the years.
TS: What advice do you have for younger students?
CG: My advice to younger students is never take this time for granted. Everyone is going to tell you that and, like me, you will blow them off and think you have so much time. In reality, though, time flies, and, in the blink of an eye, you will be looking back on your high school career wishing you had done more, talked to more people, and got out of your comfort zone. So, do new things and take chances, because you will never get these years of your life back.
TS: What was your favorite class and why?
CG: My favorite class was anatomy junior year. That class actually made me decide what I wanted to major in! The human body is so interesting to me, and I loved how hands on the class was. We dissected numerous things including sheep brains, pig hearts, and pigs, and every time I grew more and more passionate about the class.
TS: What class was your least favorite and why?
CG: My least favorite class was probably English every year, specifically the Shakespeare units. The class itself is not horrible; I just don’t enjoy summer work or Shakespeare because I do not understand it at all.
TS: What are you planning to do after school?
CG: After school, I am going to attend Penn State Berhend and major in Nursing.
TS: What is your biggest regret in terms of school?
CG: My biggest regret is probably worrying a little too much about tests and homework rather than going to sporting events and having fun in high school.
TS: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
CG: In ten years, I see myself hopefully married with a family, some dogs, working a job I enjoy, and living life to the fullest.
TS: What are you looking forward to the most after school?
CG: I am looking forward to getting my degree and really finding my passion in nursing so I can help people, because I think that is one of the most rewarding things in life.
Gigliotti is an impressive student who participates in sports and clubs while keeping excellent grades. The Squire would like to thank her for her willingness to do an interview. We also hope that she has the best of luck and continues to be an outstanding student and role model.
