Seniors Splash their Way to Graduation

By: Easton Fitzgerald

This year, the senior class of 2025 is doing a fun event to help build their senior spirit and bond as a class. With the class of 2024 being the first at EMHS to do this event, this year’s senior class is continuing the new tradition. While it isn’t sponsored by the school district, the senior class has chosen to participate in the event outside of school.

The event is called Senior Splashin’ and is very simple to understand and involves attempting to splash a target classmate with a water gun. The competition includes a large list of rules about who your target is, how you can take them out and when and where you can take them out.

Each player is assigned a target and becomes a “Splasher”. The Splasher must record themselves shooting their target with a water gun. The video must be uploaded to the app, Senior Splashin’, for it to count.

Additionally, you are not allowed to get someone while they are on school property, in their work building, or at a sporting event. The only other form of protection allowed is if you are wearing a pool accessory in its correct place. For example, if you choose to wear goggles, they must be worn over your eyes, otherwise, you can be “splashed”.

The winner of the competition receives bragging rights by being the last player standing. This year, roughly 16 of our seniors are participating in Senior Splashin’ and we hope to see the best win.

Furthermore, the event was set up by senior, Cali Chapman, who is one of the officers of the senior class. The Squire wanted to know what goes into setting up an event like this. Cali responded by saying, “All you have to do is download the app and send out the game code to your classmates to run the event!” Therefore, it seems to be very easy to do, and hopefully this tradition continues and passes on to next year’s seniors.

If Senior Splashin’ does happen again next year, The Squire also asked Cali what tips she has for upcoming seniors. She shared, “My best tips are to get people involved from your class.”

This event is a fun experience for the seniors to soak in their last year, literally. So, good luck to the remaining seniors who are still in the competition. Anyone else who is out or not a senior, pick your favorite to cheer for as the winner!
