In a groundbreaking move set to reshape the landscape of professional golf, Tiger Woods has officially launched Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL). This innovative league promises to blend the traditional elements of golf with cutting-edge technology and entertainment, aiming to attract a new generation of fans to the sport. 
    

The TGL, a product of Woods and his business partner Rory McIlroy, is designed to be a tech-infused, team-based league that will feature shorter, faster-paced matches. According to PGAtour.com, the league will incorporate a state-of-the-art golf simulator. Additionally, the green is a natural blend that changes with each hole to match the simulated hole. There is even technology installed under the surface to change the slope of the green and make each hole different and unique.

The Squire asked Hayden Hendricks what he thinks about the new greens. His response was, “Putting is already hard enough. I think the new greens are crazy high-tech, and it’s so cool how you can play on the same speed greens with different lies.”  These new technologies also allow fans to engage with the sport in unprecedented ways.  

There are other new aspects of the TGL golf experience like “the hammer.” If “the hammer” is thrown and accepted, the point total of the hole increases by one. For example, holes normally count for one point. A thrown hammer increases the value to two points. Teams must accept a hammer throw if it occurs prior to the hole’s first shot.  According to Woods, the goal is to make golf more accessible and exciting, especially for younger audiences who are accustomed to fast-paced, interactive experiences. 

Matches will be held in custom-built arenas, where players will compete in front of live audiences. Each team will consist of three players, and the matches will be broadcasted globally, with a heavy emphasis on digital platforms. The TGL plans to have a season that runs concurrently with the traditional PGA Tour, providing fans with year-round golf entertainment. 

Woods expressed his excitement about the new league in a PGA TikTok interview, stating, “We believe the TGL will bring a fresh and dynamic element to the sport of golf. By combining the best of traditional golf with modern technology, we’re creating an experience that will captivate both existing fans and newcomers to the sport.” 

With the official launch of the TGL, Tiger Woods continues to cement his legacy, not just as a legendary golfer, but as an innovator and visionary in the world of Golf.
