Horror Movies Fly Back into Season

Fall is among us. Halloween is around the corner and so are the horror movies. Horror is one of the most popular genres of movies. Horror movies are watched all year long, but around Halloween, there is a lot of excitement around the new scary movies that are released.

Watching horror movies is a great way to enjoy the unique and fun holiday of Halloween. New horror movies are starting to come out, and a couple of those movies are Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Smile 2, and A Quiet Place Day One. The Squire interviewed Eisenhower sophomore Will Mandeville, and he shared that he is most exited to watch A Quiet Place Day One.

The Squire conducted research on IMBD to find out more about the four new releases:

  • A Quiet Place Day One –  “A woman named Sam finds herself trapped in New York City during the early stages of an invasion by alien creatures with ultrasonic hearing.”
  • Beetlejuice Beetlejuice-  “After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her teenage daughter, Astrid, accidentally opens the portal to the Afterlife.”
  • Smile 2 – “About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensationSkye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.”

This fall, movie watchers will have the option of watching some of these new horror movies in theaters. Watching movies in theaters is way different than just on a regular TV screen at a house. Horror movies, especially, have a different feel when you are watching them in theaters compared to at home. Mandeville explained that theaters are nice because it is loud and has a louder stereo, but also stated that at home can sometimes be better because of the price and the ability to watch movies whenever you want. It also gives you a chance to watch the older movies that are not in the theatre.

Mandeville is just one of many people who watch horror movies around Halloween, including the old, classic films. A few all-time favorite Halloween movies are Saw, which is Will’s favorite, Goosebumps, Halloween (2018), and Scream. On imdb.com, The Squire found what the movies are about:

  • Saw –  “Two strangers awaken in a room with no recollection of how they got there, and soon discover they’re pawns in a deadly game.”
  • Goosebumps –  “A teenager teams up with the daughter of young-adult horror author R.L. Stine after the writer’s imaginary demons are set free on the town of Madison, Delaware.”
  • Halloween – “Laurie Strode confronts her long-time foe, Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.”
  • Scream –  “A year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl is terrorized by a masked killer who targets her and her friends by using scary movies as part of a deadly game.”

Horror movies are a big part of Halloween. Many people look forward to watching the classic horror movies along with the new and upcoming.
