Prom is an event that every high school student looks forward to with anticipation. For underclassmen, it’s a dance to dream about attending in future years, and for upperclassmen, it’s yet another chance to hit the dance floor and have fun with their classmates. The Squire has talked to Prom Committee President, Cali Chapman, in order to get exclusive details and facts about the night.
About This Year’s Prom
Simple. Authentic. Exciting. These are all words that Chapman used to describe this year’s “A Knight Out West” themed prom. With the dance being held at Ivory Acres, an actual barn out in Frewsburg, the authenticity is quite visible! Chapman thinks that this new and extremely on-theme venue will help to make this prom stand out among other years, because, “… the venue is a fresh place and something new and exciting to look forward to!” And what truly screams ‘country’ more than a barn? Better yet, it will still feel fancy and regal, as the Ivory Acres barn is commonly used as a venue for weddings. The dance will be held here from 7-10 pm, and The Squire hopes to see every junior and senior there.
What to Wear
Trends are a vital part of dances, such as homecoming and prom. This year is no different. Trends found on various websites and through many Eisenhower students, who shared that fashion-forward dresses will include corset tops, sparkles, flowy dresses, and bright colors. These trends are not the only ones, with a nationwide trend being “brunch dresses.” These dresses often include floral prints and are usually flowy and feature tulle. A final prom trend that has been skyrocketing on social media and in schools lately is prom bouquets. These are simple, as you can assemble them with ribbon and flowers of your choice, and you can even still use them as a bouquet for your home if you use real flowers, or just a memento of your dance if you use fake flowers. Whatever you decide to wear, just make sure you feel comfortable and confident about yourself in your outfit choice, as it really is just a chance to dance and have fun.
Behind the Scenes of This Prom
The process of planning this prom has apparently been a very smooth process. According to Chapman, they got the western theme from an upperclassman last year, and just decided it fit and was a good theme for this year. They ran into multiple complications, however, with the venue. Apparently, it took multiple calls and “begging and pleading” as Chapman put it, until the venue agreed to let us host our prom there. The prom committee did their best to make sure this prom would be as authentic as they wanted it, and not tacky like this theme can potentially be. With a great D.J, a photo booth, and this rustic venue, prom 2024 is set to be a great event.
The Squire hopes that everyone has a fun time at the dance this year, and we will be there to capture some of the memories that everyone makes! Have a fun “Knight Out West,” upperclassmen!
