Winnie Wolf Excels Beyond Expectations

By: Abe Wolf

Winnie Wolf is not any ordinary student at Eisenhower Middle/High School, and many people can back up such a statement. An involved student, she is the class president for the 2024 graduating class, president of choir, vice president of Student Council, vice president of Key Club, a member of Battle of the Books and Academic Bowl, and a tennis player from sophomore to senior year, as well as a soccer player her freshman year. She also currently works for the 21st Century Program at Youngsville. Winnie is a fantastic student that has shone brightly through her high school years, working hard and being of service to others. Winnie has been a welcoming soul within this year’s senior class and will continue to be just that as she heads off to college.

The Squire had the privilege to sit down with Winnie and talk to her about her high school years, her future plans, and some of her favorite hobbies.

When asked about what she will miss the most about attending Eisenhower, she stated she will “…miss seeing all of the familiar faces. Being such a small school means that everyone grew up together, and it will be the first time most of us are apart in twelve years.” She also noted for underclassmen that they should get involved in whatever they can, whether it be sports or clubs at school so they can make memories with their friends. She also said to be kind to one another so that you can brighten someone’s day.

In high school, she was involved in many clubs, as previously mentioned, and also participated in tennis with Warren Area High School. She stated about her time, “I started the sport off as a complete stranger to the people and the sport. After three seasons, the memories and friendship are some that I hold closest to my heart.” From the moments of encouragement to the hilarious moments in the vans to away matches, she loved it all and was proud to be the team’s “adopted Dragon.” Winnie also was in the choir at EHS, in which she noted that her favorite memory from choir was the New York City trip, where she got to experience a new environment and get closer to her fellow choir members. She believes that more students should join music programs in school because they are fun and rewarding, despite their labels of being “nerdy.” With her love of music, she was asked which album she would listen to for the rest of her life if she had to, in which she chose Cleopatra by the Lumineers because of its folk-alternative sound. (one of my favorites! Good choice, Winnie)

Though her schedule is busy, especially throughout her time in high school, she was able to find time to develop a love of many hobbies, including crocheting, jewelry-making, and skiing. She believes that a large part of her identity comes from being outdoors and creative. Crocheting especially became a favorite hobby of hers because of her ability to be artistic with it and to make money off it.

Winnie will be attending PennWest Edinboro University in the fall of 2024 as a major in Elementary Education, which is a strong program at the school. She chose Edinboro “…because it felt like where I belonged immediately. The campus is quiet yet spacious with lots of fun activities, clubs, and majors, and has a reasonable tuition to attend.” It is also located just south of Erie, which Winnie loves so she can also do activities in the city. Winnie hopes to get involved with the C.O.R.E. Club at Edinboro, an outdoor club, where she can travel and have new, adventurous memories. Winnie plans to obtain a master’s degree and then move to a quaint, little town in the mountains where she will own many dogs and teach.

The Squire would like to thank Winnie for her time allowing The Squire to have a closer look into her life. Winnie has great goals for her future, and she will undoubtedly succeed in achieving such. With her organization, passion, creativity, and kindness, she will not only be a role model for her future students, but one for everybody around her. There is a lot to be said about the student she has been at Eisenhower, but if anything can describe her, it is that she is quite amazing and gifted in her ability to be so well-rounded. The Squire wishes Winnie good luck in her future! Go Fighting Scots!
