Summer is arising and teenagers are hungry for money. Companies everywhere in Warren County are willing to hire teenagers. The Squire is ready to help readers find the best summer job.
According to a poll on the The Squire’s social media the most common summer jobs for Eisenhower students are weed whackers, ice cream shop workers, and maintenance workers. According to The Squire’s online research, the top trending summer jobs include lawncare, baby sitting, lifeguarding, food service, movie theatre employee, pet sitter, house sitter, and golf caddy, as listed by Indeed.
Carson Sobkowski, who is mowing lawns this summer, answered some questions The Squire asked him about working. When asked what made him want to mow lawns this summer, he explained, “Honestly, I want to help some of the elder people out there and also gain some exposure, and I want to buy a few things.” Carson also shared what the environment was like when working. He said, “Most of the times I mow when the grass is dry, usually 50-70 degrees outside, rarely does it rain when I mow, which is good.”
The Squire also sat down with a very experienced summer worker, Max Peterson, who is a farmer and sells firewood. We asked him to describe the best thing about a summer job was and he said, “being outside for the fresh air and making tons of money.” Finally, The Squire asked him if there is any specific training or qualifications and what the dress code for the job is. He shared with, “Being able to drive manual transmission vehicles, and my usual dress code is steel toe boots, jeans, T-Shirt, and a ball cap.”
If you’re looking for a summer job, here are a few tips for achieving greatness. Check out local newspapers to see if there are any job listings available. Reach out to the editor of the newspaper or business owner for information on the position. Apply for internships to gain experience for future positions. Be prepared to provide answers during the application process.
Locally, a lot of golf courses are seeking for help, including Cable Hollow, Jackson Valley, and Blueberry golf courses. The courses are very flexible and will be available to hire anyone who is interested in being a golf cart washer and dish washer. Every golf course will have a job for you to occupy yourself during the summer.
Whether it’s working at a local ice cream shop, lifeguarding at a pool, or even opening a lemonade stand, the key is finding what suits you the best and allows you to get extra cash. It’s also about gaining experience and skills.
