High school is an important part of your life, and you should be prepared for it. Many students moving up from middle school aren’t ready for high school. Most people, if prepared and organized correctly, are successful in high school, which could continue to college. There are many ways to prepare for high school and The Squire is here to bring you some helpful tips.
This year’s eighth grade class is almost in high school and could use some tips to get ready. The Squire interviewed freshman, Will Mandeville, for his tips about coming to high school and being prepared. According to Will, the attitude you should have for high school should be a positive attitude. He also suggests being ready to have more homework. Having a positive attitude is important in many ways, not just school. If you have a bad attitude, you won’t do your best.
The Squire did some online research for tips and, according to prepscolar.com, “Instead of fixating on the future, success in high school means thinking about what you can do now.” If you focus more on what’s happening now and doing your best, you will put more effort into the work instead of focusing on something that is not important in the moment or in the future. Having certain attitudes and staying focused on current goals can really help you succeed in high school.
Having the right mindset and attitude isn’t the only way that one should prepare for high school. Organizing is another important part of moving from middle school to high school. If you organize correctly, you will always know where your work and supplies are for class. There are many ways you can organize your things, so that you don’t lose anything. Mandeville suggested, “I recommend getting a binder because you get lots of homework.” Using a binder is a great way to organize. Many people use a binder to put folders inside for all their class work and making a specific folder for each class. When organized correctly, all your class work will get turned in on time.
If you have a positive attitude, stay focused, and keep organized, you will have a successful high school career. Having a good attitude will allow you to think well of how you perform in school, while paying attention will allow you to learn all the content you need to know. Being organized allows you to know where all your work is and turn it on time. Good luck to eighth grade as they make the big move to high school.
