     Christmas is a very festive holiday, and what other way to be festive than decorating! Decorating, though fun, can be overwhelming for some. Some common challenges of holiday decorating involve which decorations to buy, where to buy them, and how to shop on a budget. There are many answers to those questions, and The Squire is here to help. 

     Buying decorations can be easy if you know how much space you have to work with. Usually when you know where you’re going to put everything, it can make buying decorations a lot easier, so you aren’t just going out and buying too few or too many decorations. With a little planning ahead of time, your shopping can be made a lot easier. When The Squire conducted an interview with three different community members, it was revealed that the top mandatory decoration to buy is lights.  

     Whether you are shopping on a budget, or can buy high quality décor, there are many local options. Some places that are known for more price friendly decorations are Walmart, dollar stores, or, depending on the decorations, even Amazon. For higher quality decorations you can find them at places like Lowes and Home Depot. Though there are many other places both locally and online that have great options. 

     Where should you put certain décor? Well, The Squire can help you plan in advance. Before you go shopping, start measuring how much space you have for décor. Also, it is a good idea to take inventory of what you already have before buying more. Once you start shopping, start small and buy more decorations as you find more space or get more space opened up.  

    The Squire also interviewed the same three community members about tips involving Christmas decorating. Some tips people provided include using the same colors when decorating, not adding too many of one decoration in one place, and making sure to not just make the outside of your house festive, but the inside of your house as well. It was also suggested to consider sticking to one theme when you’re decorating. 

    Prices for decorations like lights at places like Walmart and or a dollar store are $8.00 at Dollar General for a pack of 200 and $6.00 at Walmart for a pack of 100. Prices for lights at places like Lowes and Amazon include $2.75 for a pack of 100 at Lowes, and $12.00 for 100 at Amazon. 

     There are many ways to decorate for Christmas, and sometimes decorating can feel stressful during the holidays. Hopefully the tips listed in this article help you get your house in the holiday spirit this winter.
