Fortnite Debuts Chapter Five, Season One

As high school boys and girls go home at the end of a long school day, many may have one thing in common. That one thing is hopping on the battle bus and dropping in on the Fortnite island. Fortnite is a battle royale game released in September of 2017 when it took the gaming community by storm. It was and still is free to the public on PlayStation, XBOX, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

It is a game where you load into a lobby of 99 other players, and you fight until there is one player or team remaining. It is full of characters, known as skins, and dances you can buy. On December third, Fortnite did something they do all the time, dropping a new season of the game for players to enjoy. The new season consists of a new map, new weapons, a new battle pass, and many more features.

Fortnite recently came off of a huge event where they went back for one month to the “OG” Fortnite seasons of chapter one. When the event started on November third, there were, at one point, three million people playing the battle royale game. Many players have enjoyed the month of “OG;” some were sad to see it go, while others were happy for the new change.

The Squire sat down with self-named pro gamer Kyler “Showtime” Black to get his feedback on the new season. “Fortnite has been my go-to game since chapter one, season two (December 2017), so I am OG.” Black mentioned, “Miles Morales is my favorite skin.” Showtime plays a lot of video games and made sure to tell The Squire that he plays almost every day of the week. “I like the new season a lot, it gives some new movement, so it feels a little different but in a good way,” he explained.

Black was very passionate when asked about where he would rank the game of Fortnite among video games.Fortnite is a generational talent that deserves to be on the Mount Rushmore of videogames and is on pace to take the number one spot, in my opinion.” Black said his go to people to play with are his brother, Cael, and his friends, RRC18, BunkCAVS54321, MotorGNU55546, Genialwinner1, and Slinkyz_13 (his squad). The Squire thanks Kyler for his time to answer our questions.

Fortnite is a game for all ages, with players ranging from elementary schooler to senior in high school to grown men streaming the game and making millions. Some of the popular streamers are Ninja, TimtheTATman, and many more.  The new season so far has gotten very good feedback from the public domain who plays the game. So if you’re looking to jump in and grab that victory royale, make sure you play Fortnite!
